At PrimeSelf, we believe optimal wellness goes beyond what you put into your body—it’s also about the world you live in. That’s why we’ve partnered with rePurpose Global to become Certified Plastic Neutral. For every product we sell, we fund the removal of plastic waste from nature—empowering underserved communities and protecting ecosystems across the globe.

The PrimeSelf x rePurpose Global Partnership

We’re proud to be part of a global movement tackling plastic pollution at its root. Through our collaboration with rePurpose Global:

  • Every product sold funds ethical waste removal.

  • Vital ecosystems are protected—one piece of plastic at a time.

  • Communities in need are economically empowered.

Through our partnership with rePurpose Global, your purchase is helping us support Project Sanguisé in Douala, Cameroon—an initiative that intercepts plastic waste from the River Wouri before it reaches vital ecosystems like national parks, mangroves, and beaches. The project not only protects the environment but also provides safe employment to local waste workers, creating lasting social and environmental impact.

So far, Project Sanguisé has removed over 217,000 pounds of plastic waste from nature and supported 62 waste workers with dignified, fair-wage employment. By transforming discarded plastic into recycled materials, the project drives circular solutions while keeping waterways and communities clean.

By choosing PrimeSelf, you're directly contributing to this powerful initiative—helping clean up rivers, empower local communities, and build a more sustainable future. Every purchase supports real people like the team in Douala, who are turning the tide on plastic pollution and creating a cleaner, safer environment for generations to come.

Plastic Neutral FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What does being Plastic Neutral mean?

Having Plastic Neutral products means that we have measured our product’s plastic footprint using rePurpose Global’s robust measurement tool - and we fund the recovery of as much plastic waste from nature as we use in our packaging.

Our Plastic Neutral certification,

  • measures our packaging’s plastic use
  • commits our brand to plastic reductions
  • Funds the recovery of as much plastic through verified plastic recovery at rePurpose Global’s impact project Sanguisé in Douala, Cameroon.

Our Plastic Neutral Certification is just one part of our wider sustainability strategy that aims to increase our positive impact on the planet.

On our behalf, Sanguisé employs and empowers marginalised waste workers to recover low-value plastic in the River Wouri – plastic that is otherwise landfilled, burned, or flushed into our natural environment.

How does this initiative positively impact communities on the frontlines of environmental protection?

Millions of workers are engaged with formal and informal waste management (including recycling) across the world - from Nairobi and Bogotá, to Mumbai and Jakarta. They play a crucial role in dealing with the consequences of our consumption. However, their environmental work is often unappreciated and waste workers are often discriminated against, marginalised, and underpaid. With small and unreliable incomes, harsh working conditions, and no progression or training, workers are often stuck in a cycle of intergenerational poverty.

Your PrimeSelf purchase is helping create new realities for these unsung environmental heroes. Through our partnership with rePurpose Global, we support fair, reliable incomes and safer working conditions for waste warriors.

Why are you still using plastic at all? Can't you figure out something better for the environment?

Plastic is an incredibly durable, affordable, and lightweight material that guarantees product quality, reduces waste (as a result of improved shelf life), and reduces carbon footprints in transportation compared to glass or metal.

However, we’re all becoming more and more aware of the devastating impact it can have on our oceans, land-based ecosystems, communities, and even human health.

That’s why we’re taking action today! Our Plastic Neutral certification empowers us to create an immediate impact on the plastic waste crisis.

My purchase is happening in South Africa. Why are your Plastic Neutral contributions happening in Cameroon?

Our packaging may be generated and collected here in South Africa, but plastic waste is a global issue.

The US is the world’s biggest plastic polluter, and per capita plastic use is 6-10 times higher, on average, in Western Europe and North America than in developing economies like India.

Plastic waste generation is soaring and recycling rates are lagging behind. Often waste from one country is shipped off to another country to be managed, post collection. The U.S. exports large volumes of plastic waste to countries around the world. Shipments often go to developing countries where waste management infrastructure lacks the capacity to handle even their own domestic waste.

rePurpose Global works in geographies that are hotspot for ocean and environmental leakage in the global waste crisis – where waste is mismanaged and puts local ecosystems at risk. In fact, 90% of plastic pollution in the oceans today stems from just 10 rivers, 8 of which are located in Asia. But And when plastic ends up in the ocean, it affects us all
